The NBA offseason is slowly approaching, and while that is the case, teams are wasting no time in bolstering their rosters.
The Houston Rockets kicked things off on Saturday when they signed Steven Adams to an extension, and things really turned up a notch when the Orlando Magic acquired Desmond Bane from the Memphis Grizzlies in a massive trade that shocked the NBA world.
Those two moves are just the beginning of what will be a wild offseason in the NBA. At the forefront of things, this offseason will be 15-time All-Star Kevin Durant.
Durant is likely to be with a new team this offseason; the only question is where he will go. That’s the million-dollar question for this offseason.
Many teams will want a piece of Druant, and two teams could be “lurking” for the two-time NBA champion. According to NBA insider Brian Windhorst, the Toronto Raptors and Los Angeles Clippers are the two teams who could emerge as potential suitors for Durant.

“He had a list of teams he preferred to go to,” Windhorst said of Leonard. “He had one year left on his contract, and the Toronto Raptors were willing to roll the dice as a possible rental. And once again, you don’t see Toronto on Durant’s list, but the Raptors are one of the teams lurking out there, who may be willing to do this without knowing that they can keep Durant on an extension, and basically potentially be a rental. And I think there’s a couple others, including the Los Angeles Clippers, and potentially even the Minnesota Timberwolves. This is still wide open. Maybe Durant gets what he wants, maybe he has to accept something else.”
Durant is set to be a free agent next offseason; however, he will be eligible for a two-year contract extension starting July 6. The assumption is that Durant will be traded to a team with which he can see himself finishing his career.
The 36-year-old will soon enter his 18th season in the league. It’s clear that he’s closer to the end than to the beginning. With that said, Durant will likely want to finish his career somewhere he not only wants to be, but also somewhere he can compete for a title.
The Clippers are closer to title contention than the Raptors right now; however, Toronto has the assets and salary cap flexibility to provide Durant with the proper help he would need.
