HUNTSVILLE, Ala (WHNT) — On Saturday, hundreds of protests will happen across the country, including right here in the Tennessee Valley, voicing their concerns about President Donald Trump.

It’s a part of the ‘No Kings’ protests that will take place across the nation.

“I think there’s a lot of discontent, and there’s there’s a lot of people that are frustrated, even if they voted for the trump administration, even if they voted for Donald Trump in November,” said Jacob Morrison. “I think that there is a lot of folks who are not happy with the things that he’s doing.”

Huntsville is just one of six locations in North Alabama that will host a protest. People are also planning to gather in Florence, Scottsboro, Fort Payne, Guntersville, and Athens.

Organizers are calling it a nationwide “day of defiance” against the president and his policies.

Jacob Morrison serves as the president of the North Alabama Area Labor Council and will be one of the Huntsville speakers.

“North Alabama’s unions want to participate in actions like this to make our opposition known to the policies that the administration is pushing through, which by and large, are going to be things that hurt working people, that hurt our members to benefit billionaires and rich people,” he said.

Earlier this week, Trump deployed the U-S military to Los Angeles to assist with the protests against ICE raids, but Morrison says tomorrow will look different.

“I have zero expectation of any violence or any sort of anything problematic at all tomorrow,” he said. “I’ve got a lot of faith in the local organizers. They have a commitment to nonviolence. They have a commitment to peace, and that is the thing that’s going to move the needle.”

All law enforcement agencies in the areas where protests are planned say there will be increased police presence out of precaution, and they ask protesters to use their First Amendment right peacefully and respectfully.

It is important to note that President Trump won the state of Alabama in the past 3 consecutive presidential elections.
