Gone are her modeling days and her bushy eyebrows—Kaia Gerber has entered a new era, and, as is often the case, her closet is the first thing to show the signs of her transformation.
Cindy Crawford’s daughter, who began her path to fame following in her mother’s footsteps on the catwalk, already has enough titles on IMDB to be able to talk about her career as an actor (Bottoms, Palm Royale, Saturday Night…). In fact, the founder of the Library Science book club will return to the Ryan Murphy universe (American Horror Story) in a series based on The Wreckage, a novel by Bret Easton Ellis. (We can’t help but find it ironic that her ex, Austin Butler, will play the iconic Patrick Bateman in Luca Guadagnino’s new adaptation of American Psycho, the most famous work by the same author.)
At the moment, her project doesn’t have a release date, and between filming, Gerber—who has not completely removed herself from the fashion world—still finds time to star in campaigns for brands like Givenchy, nab magazine covers, and attend events that allow her to combine her two passions: design and film. Just this week, she attended the Tribeca Festival in New York while wearing the most beautiful polka-dot dress she has worn to date. And that’s saying something, because the bar was set very high.
Kaia Gerber attended the premiere of Gonzo Girl, a film directed by Patricia Arquette and starring her friend Camila Morrone opposite Willem Dafoe, in a red halter-neck dress with tiny white polka dots. Thanks to the silhouette, with an inverted V-neck seam under the bust, a subtle bias cut, and irregular hem, the dress took a slight flight in its flowing fall to the knees. In this way, her style brushed—without crossing—the border of flamenco inspiration, with which almost all polka-dot dresses flirt; even more so when they are red.
Neither folkloric nor classic, Kaia Gerber’s red polka-dot dress was almost striking enough to overshadow two equally significant details. The actor is currently sporting the thinnest eyebrows she has ever worn, which, together with her new hair color, represent a new phase in her beauty aesthetic. And then there are her shoes.
When she takes a break from heels, Kaia Gerber prefers the comfort of Converse, Birkenstocks, Adidas, and ballet flats, and although she has occasionally worn velvet ballet pumps, she usually opts for more classic flat models. Her favorite is without a doubt the Cendrillon (the French name for Cinderella) by Repetto, which, on rare occasions, she has swapped for the Camille model, which has a tiny block heel. The casual, girlish Camille in white is the perfect finishing touch for this new style era.
