An Orange County man was arrested for allegedly committing lewd acts while filming minors and women at an apartment gym.
The suspect was identified as Gavin Christian Mestas, 25, of Irvine, according to the Irvine Police Department.
On June 8, officers responded to the apartment complex on Murica Aisle after employees reportedly saw Mestas exposing himself and masturbating while recording females at the pool.
Mestas was not a resident and had reportedly broken into the facility by bypassing the lock with a tool.
The suspect had allegedly “engaged in the activity twice that day and once on June 2,” police said. On at least one occasion, Mestas allegedly filmed two minors who were using the pool while he masturbated.
Detectives identified Mestas through surveillance footage and a search warrant was served at the man’s home. Officers also found evidence linking him to the alleged crimes.
On June 11, Mestas was arrested and booked at the Orange County Jail on multiple violations, including lewd acts in a public place, burglary, child annoyance, and recording a minor for sexual gratification.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Detective Vasquez at 949-724-7223.
