A suspect was fatally shot by one of four other alleged burglars as they attempted to flee a Los Angeles County home Thursday morning, authorities said.

Deputies responded to the burglary call at a home on the 11000 block of Linden Street in Lynwood around 1:45 a.m., the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department stated in a news release.

“Upon their arrival, deputies located a male adult suffering a gunshot wound,” the Sheriff’s Department said.

Homicide investigators later determined that the man was one of five adult male suspects who entered the home wearing all black clothing.

“The suspects became startled by the presence of residents and ran from the location. While fleeing, a suspect shot an unknown firearm at the residence,” the Sheriff’s Department stated.

The unidentified suspect was struck and pronounced dead at the scene.

The remaining suspects were last seen running northbound on Liden Street and out of view.

Anyone with additional information about the incident was asked to contact the Sheriff’s Department’s Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500. Those who prefer to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477 or go to the lacrimestoppers.org website.
