EXCLUSIVE: ITV panel show Sorry, I Didn’t Know has landed a sixth season, with team captain Chizzy Akudolu stepping up to host in place of Jimmy Akingbola, who is filming the concluding season of Peacock’s Bel-Air.

The show has broken its own record to once again become ITV’s longest-running show from a Black-led production company, TriForce Productions.

Akingbola is replaced by Akudolu, who will be stepping into his hosting shoes, hoping to keep a tight rein on team captain Eddie Kadi and new team captain, the comedian and actor Richard Blackwood, who replaces Akudolu. Filming will take place in the summer and will feature a roster of guests names following on from previous season’s guests which have included Adjoa Andoh, Gina Yashere and Munya Chawawa. Akingbola will continue to EP and could host future seasons.

The show sees team captains plus guests take each other on in several quiz rounds mainly centered on Black history. It  is believed to be one of the longest-running shows from a Black-led indie across all UK networks.

Exec Fraser Ayres said: “Chizzy has been part of the SIDK family since our pilot in 2016 and was amazing when she hosted an episode last series, so it’s great to see her in the hosting seat. And in Richard we have the perfect sparring partner for Eddie – They’re long-time friends and he has already shown he’s a brilliant and hilarious guest, so we are thrilled he will be joining the team on the regular.”

The sixth series was commissioned by Katie Rawcliffe and Gemma John-Lewis. It will be exec produced for TriForce Productions by Fraser Ayres, Minnie Ayres and Akingbola. The series producer is Delia Williams.
