EXCLUSIVE: Iris Apatow (Ballerina Overdrive) has landed a recurring role in the third season of Hulu‘s popular drama series Tell Me Lies, Deadline has learned.
She’ll play the role of Amanda, a bubbly but fragile college freshman keeping a big secret. Apatow is the latest to join the cast following Costa D’Angelo, who boarded as a series regular last month, as we were first to report.
Based on the novel of the same name by Carola Lovering, who serves as consulting producer, Tell Me Lies returned for its second season last September and was renewed for a third in December. Grace Van Patten and Jackson White lead the series that charts a tumultuous but intoxicating relationship as it unfolds over the course of 8 years and sweeps everyone around it into its dangerous wake. In the series, a group of college friends has no idea that one addictive entanglement among them has the power to pull them all into a web of betrayal, sex, and lies that will permanently alter each of their paths forever.
Meaghan Oppenheimer serves as showrunner and exec produces Tell Me Lies alongside Emma Roberts, Karah Preiss and Matt Matruski of Belletrist, Laura Lewis of Rebelle Media, Shannon Gibson, Sam Schlaifer, and Stephanie Noonan.
Previously seen on the Netflix series Unstable and Love, Apatow will next be seen starring opposite Lana Condor, Millicent Simmonds, and Maddie Ziegler in the female-led action thriller Ballerina Overdrive from 87North. In film, she was most recently seen starring alongside Douglas Boothe and Allison Pill in Young Werther, a critically acclaimed adaptation of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe’s classic The Sorrows of Young Werther from director José Avelino Gilles Corbett Lourenço, which premiered at TIFF. Other credits include comedies The Bubble, Sausage Party, This Is 40, Funny People, and Knocked Up.
Apatow is repped by UTA, Sugar23, and Ziffren Brittenham.
