The Cleveland Browns are going to be an interesting team to watch during preseason action and training camp. While they have a talented roster, there is a huge question mark surrounding the quarterback position.
Right now, it appears that Joe Flacco has an advantage in the competition. However, he is not the clear-cut favorite at this point.
Behind Flacco are Kenny Pickett, Shedeur Sanders, and Dillon Gabriel. The Browns also have Deshaun Watson on the roster, who is not expected to play in 2025.
Cleveland will need to figure out what direction it wants to go at the position. Is there a chance that they could consider making an outside move to bring in a player it feels comfortable naming the starter for at least the 2025 season?

That is what new speculation has suggested.
Bleacher Report analyst Paul Kasabian has suggested the Browns as one of the top landing spots for Atlanta Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins. Cleveland has been linked to a trade for Cousins in the past and those rumors have begun swirling again.
“However, Cousins is arguably the best quarterback of the bunch, as his resume proves. In theory, if the Browns aren’t comfortable with naming anyone from that quarter QB1, then a trade could potentially transpire,” he wrote. “Plus, the connection with Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski, who was Cousins’ quarterbacks coach with the Vikings in 2018 and offensive coordinator in 2018 and 2019, is certainly notable here as well.”
Cousins would be an interesting addition for the Browns. They certainly don’t “need” to trade for him, but he could help them compete for the 2025 season.
Last year with the Falcons, Cousins played in 14 games. He completed 66.9 percent of his pass attempts for 3,508 yards, 18 touchdowns, and 16 interceptions. His turnover numbers were concerning, but it was also his first year coming back from a torn Achilles.

At 36 years old, Cousins would not be a long-term option. He could come in and mentor both Sanders and Gabriel, while improving the role that Flacco is expected to have if the quarterback room remains the same.
This is an unlikely option for Cleveland. Cousins could be a consideration, but it seems like the Browns have plenty of talent to choose from under center.
Only time will tell, but the Cleveland quarterback situation is going to continue being talked about heavily until head coach Kevin Stefanski names a starter.
