The Cleveland Browns made the decision to bring in Shedeur Sanders by trading up in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft to get him. When that move was made, the team instantly brought in more eyes from the media.

Ahead of training camp and preseason action, the Browns have five quarterbacks on the roster. At this point, four of them are expected to compete for the Week 1 starting job.

Outside of Sanders, Cleveland has Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, and Dillon Gabriel competing for the job, while Deshaun Watson is also on the roster. All four quarterbacks in the competition will be given a fair shot to win and start off the season under center.

Right now, it sounds like Flacco is the leading candidate to be the Week 1 starter. Sanders has turned some heads in rookie minicamp and OTAs, but is still unlikely to begin the year as the starting quarterback.

That being said, the young quarterback has now received some valuable advice from WWE superstar The Miz. He believes that Sanders should be focused on soaking up every bit of wisdom and advice that Flacco can offer.

“I’m not really a professional football player, and I’m not a quarterback, and I’m not in a quarterback room with Joe Flacco,” he said. “But if you are in a quarterback room with Joe Flacco who has been to the Super Bowl, won the Super Bowl, has done incredible things in the NFL, I would just put my head down and learn and listen, because he has a great coach and Kevin Stefanski and I think just be the player that he was in Colorado.”

The Miz continued on, revealing more about his thoughts on Sanders and what kind of potential the former Colorado Buffaloes’ standout quarterback possesses.

“I wouldn’t want him to change. Like, I always feel like … the best person is a person that can’t help being themselves, right? That’s the best, in my opinion, and I think he can’t help being himself, and think he’s a born leader. And I think, in the end … I know it’s gonna be a little circus here and there, but if he can play to the caliber that I feel like he could be, he could be a franchise quarterback.”

During his college career over four years split between Jackson State and Colorado, Sanders completed 70.1 percent of his pass attempts for 14,347 yards, 134 touchdowns, and 27 interceptions.

There is no denying the talent and potential, but now Sanders needs to put in the work. He needs to put together the on-field production to earn playing time.

No one knows what to expect from him in the future, but the early signs have shown that he is willing to work hard and that he wants to be a sponge and learn as much as possible. Leaning on Flacco and learning as much as possible would be an extremely wise decision for Sanders.
