Update: The Kobe Bryant x Nike Air Force 1 Low Protro “Soft Yellow” is officially set to release this summer, with new detailed images now surfacing. A standout feature is the oversized number 8 on the heel of both shoes, honoring Kobe’s iconic jersey number.
Additional details revealed Kobe’s signature replaces the traditional Air logo, adding a personal tribute to the legendary athlete. As well as his championship years engraved on the outsole, commemorating Kobe’s journey from his first NBA title during 2000 with the Lakers to his final win. The insoles feature a powerful image of Kobe practicing free throws in 1999— despite a hurt wrist and partially dressed in pajamas — before a game against the Vancouver Grizzlies, a snapshot of his unmatched dedication.
Original Story: As Nike continues to ramp up its output of Kobe Bryant-themed goods, including both footwear and apparel, they’ve started to branch out from performance gear to lifestyle looks. Special Kobe-themed renditions of the Air Force 1 Low in white and black released last year, with several more rumored to be releasing later this year, including “Linen” and “Persian Violet” colorways that we discussed earlier this month.
Adding to the list, Vanessa Bryant just previewed a Kobe Bryant x Nike Air Force 1 Low “Soft Yellow” in her latest Instagram post. This early look at the pair showcases its signature light yellow spread across the leather upper, as well as the midsole. A rich purple completes the Lakers-themed color scheme by arriving at the lateral midsole’s Kobe signature and the outsole. Another element that sets this pair apart from its predecessors is the oversized “8” overlay at the left shoe’s heel, which is possibly joined by “24” — his other jersey number — at the right shoe’s heel. Not to mention, it also features a snakeskin-inspired tongue tag and laces.
At the time of writing, Nike has not yet indicated when the Kobe Bryant x Nike Air Force 1 Low “Soft Yellow” will be dropping.
