Two young suspects were arrested for allegedly operating a drug delivery service that targeted students throughout Ventura County.

One suspect was identified as Edgar Nabte, 18, of Camarillo. The other was only identified as a male juvenile due to his minor status, according to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office.

During April and May, detectives began investigating a drug delivery service that primarily sold narcotics to kids throughout the county.

The service sold marijuana, psilocybin mushrooms and nicotine vape devices to juveniles. One of the young customers was hospitalized after consuming psilocybin mushrooms that were sold by the service.

Detectives later identified Nabte and the unidentified juvenile male as suspects and said they reportedly sold the drugs through social media and messaging platforms.

On May 21, authorities served a search warrant in the 2600 Block of Antonio Drive in Camarillo and the 2300 Block of Los Feliz Drive in Thousand Oaks.

During the search, Nabte was located and taken into custody. Two days later, the male juvenile was located and arrested in Thousand Oaks.

Deputies found approximately 47 marijuana vape devices, 62 nicotine vape devices, 18 containers of pre-rolled marijuana cigarettes, and a large volume of loose marijuana during the search.

They also found over $5,000 in U.S. currency, believed to be revenue earned from illicit drug sales. Nabte was booked in the Ventura County Jail for the sale of a controlled substance to a minor, possession of a controlled substance for sale, and conspiracy to commit a crime. He is being held on $50,000 bail.

The male juvenile was arrested for the possession of a controlled substance for sale, conspiracy to commit a crime, and driving a motor vehicle without a license.

The task force involved in the case, VC FOCUS, aims to “combat fentanyl related crimes and opioid overdoses by targeting the supply chain of individuals and criminal organizations responsible for the sales of these drugs into Ventura County. In addition, the task force works to identify new trends of abuse among the younger population and educate the community at large on the lethal danger of this epidemic.”

Anyone with information on the case or similar crimes can call investigators from the VC FOCUS task force at 805-383-8700 or email [email protected].
