George Clooney is sending Noah Wyle his praises for his work on The Pitt.
The former ER co-stars have remained friends since working on the NBC medical drama, and while appearing on Late Night with Seth Meyers, Clooney expressed his happiness over Wyle’s success.
“Have you guys seen that show?” Clooney asks the audience after Meyers brought it up. “It’s so good.”
Clooney then recalled that he and Wyle have “been really dear friends since we did the pilot [for ER],” adding, “He is just the most honorable, talented young man. I get to say [that] because I’m an old man and I cannot be happier for his success on the show. The show is just a beautiful show, and he does just a great job with it.”
The Pitt is a medical procedural drama that premiered on HBO Max in January of this year. R. Scott Gemmill, with whom Wyle worked on ER, created the series and serves as executive producer alongside John Wells and Wyle. The series follows the staff at an emergency department as they attempt to overcome the hardships of working long hours, staff shortages, and underfunding.
Clooney and Wyle starred together on ER for five seasons. The medical drama created by Michael Crichton premiered in September 1994 and ran through April 2, 2009. Clooney left the series in the middle of Season 5 to focus on his booming film career. He would return as a guest star in Seasons 6 and 15. Meanwhile, Wyle stayed on the series through Season 11 and returned for Seasons 12 and 15.
