A 24-year-old man from Inglewood has been taken into custody in connection with a violent armed carjacking nearly two years ago in Culver City, officials announced.

Aaron Flenoy, according to a news release from the Culver City Police Department, was identified as a suspect involved in a brutal carjacking involving a semi-automatic handgun in the 5300 block of Sepulveda Boulevard on Aug. 3, 2023.

On parole for robbery at the time of the carjacking, investigators said the 24-year-old has an extensive criminal record with numerous felony convictions for violent offenses.

Though he managed to elude police in 2023, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office with two counts of assault with a semi-automatic firearm and an ex-felon in possession of a firearm. An arrest warrant was issued for Flenoy with bail set at $5.7 million, authorities said.

On June 3 around 10 a.m., CCP officers traveling westbound on Centinela Avenue spotted Flenoy behind the wheel of a vehicle in Inglewood and attempted to stop him.

A pursuit that lasted two minutes was initiated after the 24-year-old refused to pull over, despite the presence of an adult female and two children inside the vehicle.

“Flenoy ran a red light at the intersection of Centinela Avenue and La Brea Avenue and struck another vehicle,” the release detailed.

Flenoy and the adult female, later identified as 30-year-old Inglewood resident Timberline Davenport, suffered minor injuries during the collision. The innocent motorist involved in the crash did not sustain any injuries.

The two children in Flenoy’s vehicle, according to authorities, were taken to a nearby hospital for further evaluation and treatment. Their conditions were not immediately available.

In addition to the Aug. 2023 armed carjacking, Flenoy was booked for felony evading causing injury and felony child endangerment. The 30-year-old female, who had several outstanding warrants, was also booked for felony child endangerment, authorities noted.

An investigation into the pursuit that resulted in the crash will be handled by investigators with the California Highway Patrol.
