Universal Pictures and Blumhouse have dropped the chilling official trailer for Black Phone 2, signaling the terrifying return of Ethan Hawke‘s iconic villain, The Grabber.

The trailer opens with The Grabber’s chilling voice, proclaiming, “Did you think our story was over? You of all people know that dead is just a word. Vengeance… is… mine.” This immediately confirms that despite his apparent demise in the first film, The Grabber is back, seemingly from beyond the grave, and seeking bloody vengeance. The footage hints at a more supernatural direction for the sequel, suggesting he might be tormenting Finney Blake (Mason Thames) from the “great beyond.” Ethan Hawke reprises his role as The Grabber, with Mason Thames returning as Finney Blake and Madeleine McGraw as his supernaturally-gifted sister, Gwen. Also returning are Jeremy Davies as Finney’s father and Miguel Mora as Robin. New additions to the cast include Demián Bichir, Anna Lore, and Arianna Rivas.

Directed by Scott Derrickson (who also co-wrote the script with C. Robert Cargill), Black Phone 2 expands the universe established in the 2021 hit. Derrickson has described the sequel as a “high school coming-of-age movie in the same way that the first one was a middle school coming-of-age movie,” indicating a shift in Finney’s age and challenges.

Black Phone 2 is scheduled to haunt theaters on October 17, 2025, just in time for Halloween. Prepare to answer the call, because The Grabber is far from finished.
