Heading into the NBA offseason, the Boston Celtics are going to be a team to keep a very close eye on. With new owners, there has been speculation that they could look to make cost-cutting moves that could lead to trading away big names.

Plenty of players have come up as potential trade candidates. Derrick White, Jrue Holiday, and Kristaps Porzingis have been names to watch, but Jaylen Brown has also been floated in trade rumors.

Brown has turned into a legitimate star throughout his career. Trading him would be a big step in the wrong direction for the Celtics.

Despite the trade rumors swirling around him, Brown doesn’t seem to be worried. He spoke out with a strong message about how he views Boston.

While speaking in an interview with NBC Boston 10, Brown did not hold back about his thoughts on the Celtics and his current position with the team.

“Boston is home,” he said. “I’ve been here for ten years of my life. Even though sometimes online or in the media, (there’s) a lot of noise, once you get out in the community, it’s a lot of it’s a lot of love and genuine connections.”

During the 2024-25 NBA season, Brown played in 63 games for Boston. He averaged 22.2 points per game to go along with 5.8 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 1.2 steals per game, shooting 46.3 percent from the floor and 32.4 percent from three-point range.

At 28 years old, Brown is still very much in his prime. Next season, he will have an even more important role for Boston.

Jayson Tatum went down with a torn Achilles in the Celtics’ playoff series against the New York Knicks. He will miss most if not all of next season. Brown will become the team’s go-to player with Tatum sidelined.

Ahead of the offseason, Brown is dealing with a knee injury that bothered him in the playoffs. He was playing through a partially torn meniscus in his right knee. Brown spoke out about the injury and his consideration for offseason surgery.

“l got a lot of doctors I gotta get evaluated with — see the potential for surgery versus no surgery, wait to speak to the [Celtics] organization,” he said. “For now, it’s just rest and recovery. I’m taking a step back from a long season. Mentally, it was a lot of stuff going on.”

Only time will tell, but Brown loves the city of Boston and clearly wants to keep playing for the Celtics. Fans will just have to wait and see what the team decides to do.
