Family members have confirmed that Phil Robertson, patriarch of the reality TV show “Duck Dynasty,” has passed away at age 79.
“We celebrate today that our father, husband, and grandfather, Phil Robertson, is now with the Lord,” read an Instagram statement posted by his daughter, Phyllis Robertson Thomas, and other family members on Sunday evening.
“Thank you for the love and prayers of so many whose lives have been impacted by his life saved by grace, by his bold faith, and by his desire to tell everyone who would listen the Good News of Jesus,” the post continued. “We are grateful for his life on earth and will continue the legacy of love for God and love for others until we see him again.”
Robertson was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in December of 2024, which his family confirmed during an episode of their podcast “Unashamed with the Robertson Family.”
“According to doctors, we’re sure he has some sort of blood disease that’s causing all kinds of problems,” his son, Jase Robertson, said. “It’s accelerated and causing problems with his entire body.”
Details on Phil’s passing were not immediately disclosed on Sunday, but his family expressed deep gratitude to all those who supported him and his family’s journey, and reiterated Phil’s faith.
They emphasized Phil’s belief with a quote from the Bible, which read in part: “God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.”
