A prison inmate was busted for recording sick, sexually explicit video chats with an 11-year-old girl using his cellmate’s electronic tablet, Pennsylvania officials said.
Tyler Osborne, 30, an inmate at Berks County Jail in Leesport, was slapped with a slew of sex crime charges Wednesday after he used the prison-issued device to repeatedly order the youngster to strip her clothes and perform various sexual acts, WFMZ reported.
The convicted sex offender was barred from having unsupervised contact with minors and using electronic devices, according to court documents obtained by the outlet.
“Our criminal investigation determined that the contact was…I’ll describe it as disgusting,” Berks County District Attorney John Adams said.
“This individual was asking the child to perform sexual acts on the tablet communication and the child committed those acts.”
Investigators uncovered two of the sick recorded chats after the predator’s bunkmate notified prison officials in April that Osborne was using his tablet to contact the young girl, the outlet reported.
Osborne, who was previously convicted of corruption of minors and indecent assault charges, was charged with sexual abuse of children, possession of child pornography, unlawful contact with a minor, corruption of minors, and criminal use of a communication facility.
Adams now has a stern warning for other inmates who want to skirt the rules.
“We want to make sure that the inmates know we’re looking over their shoulder,” he told the outlet.
“So if they’re engaging in criminal or inappropriate behaviors while utilizing their tablets, we’re going to discover it and we’re going to charge them or take appropriate actions to take those tablets away from them.”
Osborne remains in custody and is due back in court on June 3.
