Knicks Have Major Silver Lining Despite 2-0 Deficit to Pacers

The New York Knicks have dropped the first two games of the Eastern Conference Finals at home to the Indiana Pacers. After a wild Game 1 between the two sides, Game 2 was much more tightly-contested, but the Pacers were able to come out with a big win.

New York now faces the tough situation of having to go on the road down 2-0 in the series. Indiana has been one of the better teams at home this postseason, offering the Knicks a grim outlook for the series.

However, there is one big silver lining for New York as the two sides get ready for Game 3. And that is that each of the games was very winnable for New York, and some minor adjustments could change everything.

Zach Kram of ESPN broke it all down.

“The good news for the Knicks, if any exists, is that the first two games in the series have been remarkably even. This isn’t like the 2-0 advantage in the Western Conference finals, where the Thunder are running roughshod over the Timberwolves; the Knicks lost Game 1 in overtime and had a chance to tie the score in Game 2 in the final seconds. If a couple of shots had bounced off the rim differently over the past few nights in Madison Square Garden, the Knicks could be flying to Indiana ahead 2-0, or at the very least tied in the series.”, he said.

While the Knicks likely won’t take solace in this, both games have been very close. Neither of the two teams has separated itself, but the Pacers have just been a little better down the stretch of games.

But Game 3 will show us a lot about this Knicks team, and whether they have any fight left in them. No team in NBA history has come back from a 3-0 series deficit, so New York’s clock is ticking.

The Pacers’ fans are going to be buzzing for Game 3, and the Knicks will need to figure out how to silence them as well. If New York can focus and play their game, they could have a chance to get right back into this series.
