Up-and-coming country star is unrecognizable in viral throwback video 3 years before fame

Ella Langley’s country stardom came with a major makeover.

The singer looks unrecognizable in a TikTok video shared years before her hit single “Choosin’ Texas” made her a household name.

In the resurfaced 2022 clip, a makeup-free Langley talked about her up-and-coming music career and opening for other artists.

The musician styled her light brown hair in a messy ponytail while wearing a casual blue T-shirt before showing fans her low-maintenance makeup routine using drugstore products.

These days, the 27-year-old is known for her signature bangs, full-glam makeup and bedazzled outfits on stage.

Many fans in the comments section of the resurfaced TikTok couldn’t believe Langley’s transformation.

“can’t convince me this is Ella,” one wrote, while another added, “There’s no way I’d believe this was her if she herself didn’t post it.”

A third commented, “I still cant understand how this is Ella Langley, this cant be the same person 😭.”

But others defended the country music star and praised her “glow up.”

“You’ve had such a glow up girl 🔥,” one gushed as another wrote, “Damn the glow up hit hard good for her.”

Langley recently opened up about the evolution of her personal style, noting that she’s come a long way from her small-town roots.

“Growing up in Alabama, I was a jeans and T-shirt kind of girl,” she told “Good Morning America” last month. “My style has definitely evolved over the years, and fashion has become a way I love to express myself both on and off stage.”

While she describes her current style as “a mix of Western, bohemian, and a little edgy,” she insisted that “comfort is always important” to her no matter what.

Langley first leaned into a more glamorous look with the release of her debut studio album “Hungover” in August 2024.

Her signature brunette bangs made their first appearance in the music video for her hit country song “You Look Like You Love Me” that year.

She admitted that her bangs started as a “bad tendency to cut [her] own hair,” but that they ultimately changed the trajectory of her career.

“I don’t think I can ever change [my hairstyle]. It changed my life a little bit,” she said in April on “This Past Weekend” podcast with Theo Von.

Langley’s debut album earned her immediate accolades, with hits including “You Look Like You Love Me” and “Weren’t for the Wind,” both making it to No. 1 on country charts.

In April, her sophomore release, “Dandelion,” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 200 and features hits including “Be Her” and “I Can’t Love You Anymore.”

But it was the single “Choosin’ Texas” that made waves in the music industry.

The song climbed to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for 14 consecutive weeks, matching Mariah Carey’s “We Belong Together” and Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You” for most weeks at No. 1 among non-holiday titles by women with no male-billed acts.

In addition, “Choosing Texas” ties Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” for second-longest-ranking hit.

Langley called the career milestone “insane” in a post shared on Instagram stories shortly after earning the honor.
