The Indiana Pacers and New York Knicks put on a show in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals on Wednesday night. One of the commentators for TNT during that game was none other than Pacers’ legend Reggie Miller, who is very familiar with Madison Square Garden and the Knicks.

Of course, Miller pulled off his infamous eight points in nine seconds performance on the road in New York while playing for Indiana.

It was only fitting that Miller was calling Game 1. Tyrese Haliburton, the Pacers’ star point guard, forced overtime with a step-back jumper as time expired in regulation. Originally, he thought it was a game-winning three-point attempt and brought back Miller’s famous choke sign that he gave to Spike Lee.

While it was just a game-tying two-point shot, Haliburton and Indiana were able to get things done in overtime, winning the period by a score of 13-10.

Following the game, Miller is under fire from NBA fans. They are accusing him of letting his bias for the Pacers show throughout the game.

“It is disgraceful to have a clear Pacer on this call. I watched on mute,” one fan commented.

A second comment read, “Will always have that Pacers blood in him haha. It shows in his commentary whenever they’re playing.”

“His jersey is retired with the Indiana Pacers we all know who he’s rooting for,” a third fan said.

Another fan chimed in, “I want to see the same energy when knicks win in 6 and make the finals.”

“He is a tough listen,” a fifth fan wrote.

In Game 1, Indiana was led by Haliburton, who scored 31 points to go along with 11 assists. Aaron Nesmith was the hero of the fourth quarter, scoring 20 points and finishing with 30 total points and eight made three-pointers.

While stealing the first game of the series was huge for the Pacers, the series is far from over. Throughout much of the game, the Knicks dominated Indiana. That will need to be cleaned up for the Pacers to go on and win the series.

Game 2 will be played on Friday night at 8 p.m. ET. Indiana will be looking to take a 2-0 lead heading back home, while New York faces an extremely important task to tie the series up.

Miller’s status as a commentator remains to be seen, but it’s clear that Knicks fans are over-listening to him call the games in this series.
