Cheryl Burke revealed she lost about 35 pounds by changing her diet and exercise regimen after clapping back at internet trolls commenting on her “new face.”
“I have so much more energy than I ever have,” the former “Dancing With the Stars” pro told People in an interview published Tuesday.
She credited intermittent fasting, eating clean foods, walking with her dog, walking on a treadmill and taking fitness classes for helping her shed the weight in the past few months.
“I just like to continue to move my body and be active. I’ve noticed not only my skin changing into mature skin, but also just my metabolism has changed quite a lot,” Burke, 41, said while reflecting on entering her 40s.
“I’ve noticed my feet cramping randomly if I’m not moving often,” she continued. “Obviously, I’m not as active as I was when I was on [“DWTS”], but it’s just been a whole change for me.”
The professional dancer also responded to haters who criticized her changed appearance and accused her of taking a weight-loss drug.
“What’s hurtful, I think, with seeing all these comments is that it’s mainly women attacking women. It’s such a shame,” Burke said.
“These are all assumptions that people have thrown at me, as far as Ozempic, my face. I’ve always had criticism, but what’s shocking is that this is worse than when I gained weight. These are really mean and cruel messages.”
She clarified, “I just want people to know that I’m not sick and I have never gone under the knife for anything. I didn’t get a brow lift, I didn’t get a face transplant. This is my body and this is how I feel best in it today.”
But Burke confessed she’s not letting the comments affect her too much.
“I honestly have no interest in really clapping back more than I already have,” she added.
The TV personality — who starred on “DWTS” from 2006 to 2022 — also reflected on her past struggles with body image and becoming “obsessive” over her weight on the scale.
“As a dancer, we were stuck in front of mirrors constantly, it was important to stay at a certain weight, and my dance coaches were really strict,” she said, explaining she would get down when she wasn’t “skinny enough.”
“Just being consistently chastised about my weight, it wasn’t fun,” she contined.
“I even used to travel with a scale. That’s how obsessive I was. So it’s just not healthy.”
The “Sex, Lies and Spray Tans” podcast host faced scrutiny online earlier this month — even being called “unrecognizable” by fans — after sharing a GRWM video on TikTok.
On Sunday, Burke returned to the platform to address the “wild” rumors about her appearance.
“The level of projection that is happening and that I’m witnessing is wild,” she said, calling out the trolls for gossiping and comparing her current looks to her younger self.
“I hate to break it to you, but that Cheryl doesn’t exist anymore,” the choreographer added. “The assumptions are just exhausting as hell.”
