The 3-year-old died on May 18, days after a water incident took place at a home near East Chandler Heights in Arizona. He was airlifted to a children’s hospital in Phoenix, where he later died from his injuries.

Officers arrived at the property shortly before 6 p.m. on May 12 after a drowning call was made, Chandler police spokesperson Sonu Wasu said.

The officers began performing CPR on the child until firefighters arrived and took over medical care, she added.

“Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with the child’s family and loved ones during this unimaginable time,” Wasu continued. She said an investigation was ongoing into the events leading up to the drowning.
