DECATUR, Ala. (WHNT) — The North Alabama staple barbeque restaurant is adding another trophy to its case.
Big Bob Gibson Bar-B-Q was crowned as the 2025 Pork Shoulder Champion at the Memphis in May World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest on Saturday. This trophy is the restaurant’s 13th first-place win.
Other finalists in the Pork Shoulder competition were Shoats & Skins and Team Waterdog.
Big Bob Gibson came in second in the Kingsford Tour of Champions, the ‘people’s choice’ of the WCBCC, as well as second for the overall Grand Champion, according to the WCBCC Instagram.
This adds to the restaurant’s long history of first-place trophies for the WCBCC. In 2024, Big Bob Gibson also won first place in the pork shoulder category.
In 2023, Food Network named ‘Big Bob’ Gibson the top barbecue place in Alabama. At previous WCBCCs, ‘Big Bob’ Gibson has won five Grand Championships: 2017, 2014, 2011, 2003 and 2000.

- Patio Porkers
- Turkey Smoke
- Frank’s Red Hot Hot Wings
- Beef
- Poultry
- Seafood
- Exotic
- Tomato Sauce
- Mustard Sauce
- Vinegar Sauce
Other winning categories included Best T-Shirt, Piggie Idol, Best Booth, Grilling Green Award and Kingsford Tour of Champions.
