During the third round of the PGA Championship at Quail Hollow, LIV Golf captain Jon Rahm hit an approach shot that went a touch wayward.

That shot directly hit a fan and looked like it nailed his head. He did not seem upset and acted like it was no big deal.

Thankfully, the guy seemed okay, but the hit looked gnarly.

What was even wilder was how the ball bounced off the guy’s head and rolled onto the green — talk about a lucky break.

Fans watching the action caught the incident and flew to Twitter.

They immediately noticed how much of a lucky break the 2023 Masters winner got from the hit. Like X user Will Murray said, it was truly a ‘wow’ moment.

Dude in the gallery just took a Jon Rahm approach shot off the noggin. Ball was going left, bounced off his head, then wound up off the green on the right. Wow.

It took CBS Sports almost 30 minutes to post about it, but these fans were all over the interaction as they watched it live on the broadcast.

There was also an X user named The Meck who took a medical approach.

He tagged the PGA and wrote, “The guy who was just hit in the head with Jon Rahm golf shot — He definitely should be checked out by EMT or a Dr. and monitored for several hours. Sometimes head injuries don’t kick in until hours later.”

ATN @PGA #PGAChamp The guy who was just hit in the head w Jon Rahm golf shot — He definitely should be checked out by EMT or a Dr. and monitored for several hours. — Sometimes Head Injuries dont kick in until hours later. He seemed to say he was OK but thats now not several…

Hopefully, one of the EMTs on site will check him out and make sure the guy has nothing more than a headache.

At least Rahm checked on the guy, shook his head, and signed a glove for him.

An apology, hand shake, and a signed glove from Jon Rahm will make up for a good welt. pic.twitter.com/RVWtvYDBz1

Despite these players being some of the best in the world, wayward shots happen occasionally at golf tournaments. People know this, but that does not make them any less scary.

Rahm was having a decent day before he hit the guy. He opened the day with two birdies in his first three holes. The Legion XIII captain dropped a shot at No. 6 but picked it back up at the par-5 7th.

He got to 3-under on the day when he birdied the 606-yard par-5 10th. However, Rahm dropped back to 2-under on 11 with a bogey after he nailed the guy. He would settle for par on the 12th.
