PHOENIX — After a successful first run, Foley Ranch of Desert Ridge Marketplace in north Phoenix is bringing back its country singing competition this summer.
The second iteration will begin Tuesday at 6 p.m. with competition stages occurring weekly up until a champion is given the 2025 Rising Star Award on July 15.
“We are excited to once again present the Rising Star Vocal competition for aspiring Arizona country singers,” Foley Ranch owner Don Talbot said in the announcement. “There were so many incredible artists who participated in the first competition last year, and we can’t wait to showcase all the amazing singers yet to hit the Foley Ranch stage.
“Live music is an important part of the Foley Ranch experience, and we are so excited to be a part of finding the next generation of talent.”
What do the country singing competition contestants need to know?
Foley Ranch is taking 60 contestants with 10 alternates for its competition. Performers can sing solo or as a duet.
Interested participants can submit a video online for entry. In addition to providing basic information, they must also submit a live recording of a country song whether a cappella or accompanied. They also must list four country songs they’d like to perform.
Participants who make it past the entry stage will go through nine weeks of competition, including six of preliminary rounds, two semifinals and the championship. Each performer will sing two songs on each night, with 10 performers on each preliminary night.
Throughout the process, a panel of judges and the audience will decide together which performers move on.
