The Trump Organization is partnering with UAE-based developer Dar Global to construct a new luxury tower in Dubai.
The Trump International Hotel & Tower project was initially shelved in 2009, but the development, planned for a prime waterfront site in Dubai’s Business Bay district, has been revived, with a 2031 completion date.
Why It Matters
The project marks the Trump brand’s second major real estate venture in Dubai. The new tower will feature luxury residences and a hotel, with branding rights licensed from The Trump Organization to Dar Global, which is part of Saudi Arabia’s Dar Al Arkan group. Though the project’s cost has not been disclosed, it is expected to be among the most prominent real estate developments in the city.
What To Know
The Trump International Hotel & Tower in Dubai was originally announced in 2005 in partnership with state-backed developer Nakheel. That project was canceled in 2009 during the global financial crisis.
The latest version is being built near the Dubai Canal in Business Bay, an area that has become a mixed-use business and residential zone filled with high-rise luxury towers.
While exact design details have yet to be released, the project will include ultra-luxury residences, leisure amenities and a branded hotel component. Dar Global will lead the project’s financing, development and sales.
The building is set to be 80 floors tall, though it won’t come close to the height of the Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world, with which the new Trump tower will share a skyline.
Conceptual images of the completed building show that Dar is drawing on The Trump Organization’s branding. Gold and white are the dominant colors, and it claims that upon completion, the hotel will have the highest swimming pool in the world.
What People Are Saying
Dar Global’s statement on the new building reads: “This is what winning looks like. Residences & penthouses with soaring ceilings and bespoke finishes. Every inch, a statement of dominance.
“Overlook the shimmering skyline, the grandeur of Burj Khalifa or the limitless sea. These are the headquarters for the ambitions of visionaries, disruptors, and game-changers.”
What’s Next
Construction timelines and architectural plans for the Trump Tower in Dubai are expected to be announced later this year. Dar Global is overseeing design and development processes and plans to market the project aggressively to international investors, particularly from Asia, Russia and Europe.
If completed as envisioned, the tower will join other Trump-branded developments in the UAE, including the Trump International Golf Club at DAMAC Hills.
