Two boys, ages 12 and 13, have been arrested following a month-long investigation into a string of Long Beach burglaries, vandalisms and, in some cases, car thefts.
Police announced Friday that detectives found and booked two of six juvenile burglary suspects believed to have been involved in at least six criminal incidents spanning from April 6-26.
In every instance, Long Beach PD officials said the group allegedly shattered glass doors or windows of businesses.
At least twice, the suspects used a stolen vehicle for transportation.
Detectives compiled the following list of locations they believe the juvenile crew is responsible for damaging:
- 4/6/2025 – 5689 Paramount Boulevard – Broken glass door
- 4/8/2025 – 4558 Atlantic Avenue – Broken glass door, loss of EBT machine
- 4/12/2025 – 6440 East Pacific Coast Highway – Damaged window
- 4/23/2025 – 6440 East Pacific Coast Highway – Broken glass door, damage to register and receipt machine, loss of merchandise
- 4/26/2025 – 5013 East 2nd Street – Damage to window
- 4/26/2025 – 5001 East 2nd Street – Broken glass door, damage to registers, miscellaneous baked goods.
Through speaking with business owners, reviewing surveillance footage and canvassing for additional evidence, investigators identified at least two suspects.
The two boys were arrested on May 12 after detectives served search warrants at their Long Beach homes.
Officers arrested the 13-year-old first, booking him at the Long Beach City Jail for commercial burglary, possession of a stolen vehicle and felony vandalism.
Although the 12-year-old was not home when detectives arrived, he later turned himself in at the Public Safety Building and was booked for commercial burglary and possession of a stolen vehicle.
Both kids were released due to being juveniles.
Police said the investigation into the crime series is ongoing, and that detectives will continue to work to identify the remaining outstanding suspects.
“These arrests should serve as a reminder that if you choose to engage in criminal activity in our city, you will be held accountable,” said LBPD Chief Wally Hebeish. “We remain committed to protecting our entire community and addressing unlawful behavior appropriately.”
