The police in Britain on Thursday charged a man with arson in connection with three fires, including two at properties linked to Prime Minister Keir Starmer.

The Metropolitan Police in London said in a statement that the man, Roman Lavrynovych, 21, had been charged with arson with intent to endanger life.

The police identified Mr. Lavrynovych, who was arrested on Tuesday, as a Ukrainian national.

One of the fires erupted Monday morning outside the doorway of Mr. Starmer’s family home in Kentish Town, in north London, which is currently being rented out.

Another blaze had broken out the day before, at a separate property in Islington, also in north London, while the third episode involved a car fire on May 8.

The BBC reported that Mr. Starmer had lived in the Islington property during the 1990s and that the car was also connected to him. Nobody was hurt in the fires, but the doorway of the Kentish Town house was damaged.

Mr. Starmer and his family currently occupy the prime minister’s residence at 10 Downing Street.

Mr. Lavrynovych, who was arrested in Sydenham, southeast London, is scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Friday.
