Three suspects, including a 16-year-old, were arrested in connection with a shooting that left two people hospitalized in Temecula.

On May 5, Riverside County sheriff’s deputies responded to a shooting near Temecula Parkway and Redhawk Parkway at 5:22 p.m.

The witness said a male suspect got out of his car and shot at another vehicle before both vehicles left the area.

Deputies who arrived at the scene found evidence of a shooting at the busy intersection. They were notified that two victims later arrived at a local hospital with gunshot wounds.

Following an investigation, deputies identified a 16-year-old from Pala as the primary suspect. The teen was arrested for attempted murder and booked into juvenile hall.

Two other suspects were also arrested in connection with the shooting. Shawna Harper, 37, of Pala, was arrested for knowingly assisting the suspect and being an accessory to an attempted murder, authorities said.

Alphonso Zavala, 36, of Vista, was arrested for felony weapons violations. They were booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center.

The motive behind the shooting remains unclear. No further details were released by authorities.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call Investigator Wesley Martinelli at 951-696-3000.
