COLBERT COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) — Colbert County hit over $115 million in tourism revenue in 2024, according to the Colbert County Tourism and Convention Bureau.
Colbert County, full of music and history, saw a major increase in tourism in 2024.
Susann Hamlin is president of the Colbert County Tourism and Convention Bureau.
“In Colbert County, we had over 115 million dollars spent in Colbert County in 2024,” Hamlin said.
That number is up by 1.4% from $113 million in 2022, Hamlin tells News 19, which brings in the most revenue.
“According to the study, what brings in the most money by a lot is food and drink,” Hamlin said.
Hamlin says there was over $38 million in travel-related earnings in 2024, including lodging, entertainment, transportation, and retail. As far as where tourists are drawn to the most, Hamlin says, it’s a place in Tuscumbia.
“The most visited attraction is Helen Keller’s home, and probably that’s because she is world-renowned, everyone knows who she is, people all over the world, people come, second is our recording studios and hall of fame,” Hamlin said.
As for 2025 tourism numbers so far, Hamlin says numbers are on track.
“We are up about 3% right now, as far as our county, lodging taxes is what we get,” Hamlin said.
Hamlin tells News 19 that 2025 should be another record-breaking year.
