Washington was slated to play a significant role for the Ravens this season. He will likely be put on the Physically Unable to Perform list. Baltimore drafted some depth at that position, drafting Malaki Starks in the first round of the April draft.
With Washington out now, Starks will play a massive role for the Ravens’ defense. Baltimore endured a ton of changes last year, but they were still an elite group against the run. They ranked first in that category, allowing just 80.1 yards per game,
On top of that, they also showed improvement in covering tight ends and experienced a significant defensive turnaround. Washington did his part as he was exceptional, particularly in coverage.
Last month, Washington signed a one-year, $3.2 million restricted free agent tender. He started the final 12 games for the club, including the two playoff games. His presence next to Kyle Hamilton helped turn Baltimore’s defense into one of he best.
Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta had high praise for Washington after their season came to an end in January.
“Ar’Darius is a great example of a guy who got a chance and ran with it,” DeCosta said. “This year, he stayed healthy, and he became that guy that we saw in college. He’s tough, physical, a playmaker, instinctive, smart, a leader.
“He’s a great story. Just another one of these undrafted guys over the years that we’ve had that has developed into being a really good football player.”
Washington is a former Horned Frog of TCU. He stands at 5-foot-8 and has battled injuries to start his career. His 2024 season was the healthiest he had been in a while; however, that won’t be the case in 2025.
