EXCLUSIVE: Derek Rivera (All American: Homecoming) has joined the fourth season of Paramount+‘s drama series Mayor of Kingstown, starring Jeremy Renner. Filming is underway in Pittsburgh, PA.
Rivera will play Cortez, a young, cold, and measured Colombian Sicario in a recurring role.
Co-created by Taylor Sheridan and Hugh Dillon, Mayor of Kingstown follows the McLusky family, power brokers in Kingstown, Michigan, where the business of incarceration is the only thriving industry. Tackling themes of systemic racism, corruption, and inequality, the series provides a stark look at their attempt to bring order and justice to a town that has neither.
Renner leads the cast as Mike McLusky, the titular leader of Kingstown, Michigan. Hugh Dillon, Tobi Bamtefa, Nishi Munshi, Taylor Handley, Hamish Allan-Headley, and Derek Webster also star. Clayton Cardenas, Edie Falco, Lennie James, and Laura Benanti are also new Season 4 additions.
Mayor of Kingstown is executive produced by Sheridan, Dillon, Renner, Antoine Fuqua, David C. Glasser, Ron Burkle, Bob Yari, David Hutkin, Michael Friedman, Dave Erickson, Christoph Schrewe, Wendy Riss Gatsiounis, Evan Perazzo, and Keith Cox. Erickson also serves as showrunner for the series.
Rivera is best known for his three-season arc as Santiago Reyes on the CW series All American: Homecoming. He most recently appeared in the Fox drama series Rescue: HI-Surf. His TV credits also include ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy and 13 Reasons Why for Netflix. He is repped by Momentum Talent and Literary Agency and Rikki Dale Management.
