Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce celebrated Mother’s Day in a city near and dear to their hearts: Philadelphia.
Kelce’s older brother Jason resides in the City of Brotherly love alongside his wife, Kylie Kelce, and their four daughters. Swift has her own ties to the city as a Pennsylvania native, though she of course owns homes in New York City, Rhode Island, and LA, to name a few.
In photos taken by fans and shared online, Swift and Kelce appear to be at a restaurant—perhaps a Mother’s Day brunch? The 35-year-old singer looks to be wearing a black floral sundress from the brand Christy Dawn for the occasion, while Kelce kept things more in the spring color palette in an off-white shortsleeved shirt.
As Sarah Chapelle, author of Taylor Swift Style, was keen to point out, Swift’s dress is called “The Nicks”—apparently after Stevie Nicks. “Named after our favorite-ever singer, the Nicks Dress is a true fashion dream,” reads the description of the $298 dress on Christy Dawn’s website. As any Swiftie will tell you, Nicks and Swift have been friends and occasional collaborators since at least 2010, when they performed a duet at the Grammys.
The Nicks dress is classic Taylor Swift, from the smocked back to the button-front to the dainty daisy print, even if black is a legitimately surprising color choice for a spring holiday, especially for a woman who loves pastels. (Must be that NYC influence.) Does it mean anything? Probably not. If fans have been theorizing about what this look could mean with regards to the Swift canon, nothing has yet reached this writer’s ears.
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s outing marks the first time in nearly two months that they’ve stepped out together. We can’t fault the mega-famous pair for avoiding the spotlight following a Super Bowl showdown (his) and the conclusion of a historic, two year long tour (hers). A source told People that the duo are “making the most of their time off together,” which apparently includes a bit of quality Philly time. Go Birds.
