EXCLUSIVE: The creative team at newly-rebranded Made in Chelsea producer Universal Television Alternative Studio UK (UTAS UK) is taking shape.
Amy Dallmeyer, a development exec at Clarkson’s Farm producer Expectation, has joined as Creative Director of Development while ex-Big Brother exec Andrew Jackman has been confirmed as UTAS UK Director of Programmes.
The new UTAS UK outfit has subsumed Made in Chelsea producer Monkey following an NBCUniversal unscripted restructure, with the Monkey name now retired.
Dallmeyer and Jackman join an exec team alongside UTAS UK boss Helen Kruger Bratt and UTAS President Toby Gorman, who is L.A.-based. Upcoming shows include the high-profile Saturday Night Live UK, which is in full swing, and Destination X, the next project to come from the BBC-NBC partnership that birthed The Traitors. In an interview with UK TV trade Broadcast last week, Gorman suggested other American IP could be headed across the Atlantic akin to SNL.
Dallmeyer is taking on a full-time position that was previously filled at Monkey by a number of contractors. At Expectation, she worked across the likes of Sky’s The Dyers’ Caravan Park, Peacock’s Sex in the Dark pilot and Channel 4’s Mo Gilligan’s All Star Happy Hour. Past employers include UK labels Thames and Betty.
As Director of Programmes at Monkey, Jackman worked on hits including Made in Chelsea and The Real Housewives UK franchise. He has also EP’d Big Brother, The Only Way is Essex and Netflix’s Dance Monsters down the years.
The move to rebrand UTAS UK comes at a time of change for NBCUniversal amid the SpinCo spin-off actioned by owner Comcast. There have been dozens of layoffs across NBCUniversal’s television and streaming business in the states, while Universal International Studios, which previously housed Monkey and Australian indie Matchbox, has also fired a small number of employees in London, L.A. and Australia.
