A mom of two was left stunned after seeing what her kids’ bus driver did on the school drop-off.
Jenny Sanchez (@jeenny0420) posted footage from her home security camera in a clip on TikTok, which showed her two children, 11 and 7, being dropped off at home.
But, unlike most drivers who would just carry on with their journey, this man patiently waits, making sure the children safely enter their home before driving away.
Sanchez, who has entrusted her children to this same driver since 2022, told Newsweek how much his consistent dedication means to her family. “He’s always ensured the days my children ride the bus home that they make it inside the house if he doesn’t see anyone [such as parents] outside,” the 27-year-old said.
Although viewers can’t hear him, the driver even tells her kids to go inside in the clip. “I actually thought it was funny seeing him tell them to get inside the house,” Sanchez said. “Now that the video has gone viral, I’ve gotten a flood of opinions, and there’s no other way to feel but thankful.”
For the mom of two, the driver’s gesture is more than just a routine check; it’s a reassurance.
“As a mom, we always want to believe our kids are in good hands and I’ve never doubted the bus driver, but after that day, it really made it clear that this driver cares for my children and ensures their safety,” Sanchez told Newsweek. “We definitely feel blessed to have had him the past three years.”
The heartwarming clip has received more than 2.5 million views and hundreds of comments.
“So glad to see this. This is how it’s supposed to be,” one user wrote.
“My mom does the same thing for her students,” another shared. “She’s been a bus driver for 35 years.”
Many other users called for the bus driver to get a raise for his gesture of kindness.
While the video has drawn the occasional critical comment—what Sanchez calls opinions from “negative Nancies”—the overwhelming response has been one of admiration and gratitude.
“I’ve gotten lots of positive feedback for the kind gesture of the driver, with many praising him, saying he deserves a raise,” Sanchez said.
Although a pay increase isn’t something she can influence, Sanchez added that the family rewarded the bus driver with cookies, candy bags and banana bread throughout the year to show their appreciation.
