The Cleveland Browns will be heading into the new NFL season with a large quarterback room. Cleveland brought in veteran Joe Flacco this offseason, while also drafting two rookie quarterbacks.

Both Dillion Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders will have a chance to compete for the starting job. However, the two know that they will be compared with one another heading into the season.
During the rookie minicamp, Gabriel gave some thoughts on having another rookie quarterback around him.
“I love it,” Gabriel said Saturday before the Browns’ second rookie minicamp practice. “I love it because of who it is. I think just for us both, you can learn from one another, but also it’s not just us two in the room. At least for right now it is. But going into the year, Kenny [Pickett], Joe [Flacco] and even Deshaun [Watson], just a bunch of guys who played a bunch of ball that we can all learn from one another.”
Gabriel was a third-round selection of the Browns this year, while Sanders dropped down to the fifth-round. With Sanders on the roster, Gabriel is being viewed as an afterthought with the coverage the former Colorado quarterback is getting.

Sanders addressed this, but also acknowledged that he can only control what he can control.
“It’s just me versus me,” Sanders said. “I can’t control any other decision besides that. So I just try to be my best self at all times. … My job here isn’t to prove people wrong. I’m proving myself right.”
Sanders will be looking to prove himself with the Browns, just as Gabriel will do. Having the two rookies on the team could provide Cleveland with some strong competition as they search for a starter or even a backup option.
Having this large of a quarterback room is a good problem to have, and the Browns will move forward as best they can. Flacco will likely be the starter for Cleveland to open the season, but there is room for any of the others to step up accordingly.
