The series has been the tale of two games thus far, with the Denver Nuggets stealing Game 1 and homecourt advantage and the Oklahoma City Thunder asserting their dominance in a Game 2 rout.
What may have been a hint of panic for the Thunder after Game 1 completely dissipated after a Game 2 thrashing of the Nuggets. Oklahoma City won Game 2 by an astounding 43 points, nearly going the entire game without trailing.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 34 points and tallied eight assists in just 30 minutes of play, shooting 11-for-13 from the field and a perfect 11-for-11 from the foul line. Seven other Thunder players scored in double figures, with Jalen Williams scoring 17 and Chet Holmgren adding 15.
For Denver, essentially anything that could have gone wrong did in Game 2. The Nuggets were outrebounded 44-38, turned the ball over 21 times to the Thunder’s nine, allowed Oklahoma City to shoot 56.2% from the field, and star center Nikola Jokic fouled out.
The good news is that the Nuggets now get to play on their home court, where historically, they’ve always had a significant advantage and have already won three of four games in these playoffs.
