The Garden Grove Strawberry Festival will return this Memorial Day weekend to celebrate its 65th anniversary with four days of free family fun, food and entertainment.
The festival will be from May 23 to May 26.
The beloved community event, which draws more than 300,000 visitors annually, will kick off with its Opening Ceremony on May 23. The ceremony will feature celebrity appearances, VIP introductions and 2,000 complimentary slices of strawberry cake.
Following the ceremony, fans can catch a screening of “Rookie of the Year” at the Garden Amp, capped off by a meet-and-greet with actor Thomas Nicholas.
The annual parade will kick off at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 24. This year’s Celebrity Grand Marshal is Kate Linder, star of “The Young and the Restless” and an advocate for ALS and children’s causes. Civil rights icon Sylvia Mendez, known for her role in the landmark Mendez v. Westminster case, will serve as the Theme Grand Marshal, a news release said.
A celebrity autograph session will follow the parade at 1 p.m. at the Courtyard Center.
Festivalgoers can also enjoy live music on two stages, carnival rides and games, local food and craft vendors, and family-friendly contests throughout the weekend.
The first Garden Grove Strawberry Festival was held in 1958 and was organized entirely by volunteers. Since then, the festival has donated over $7 million to local charities benefiting youth, seniors, and the arts.
