The latest iteration of Deadline’s Sound & Screen showcase, one of our most soulful jams that we put together, has kicked off Wednesday at UCLA’s Royce Hall, where a fantastic orchestra will play the music from some of the year’s best television shows.

Sound & Screen Television grows every year and puts a smile on the faces of audiences in a way no other awards-season event does. Tonight will be no different, and we hope there’s as much sonic charm as there always is.

We’re confident that there will be, given the music from the 11 shows featured. From epic dramas, comic book capers, video game adaptations, classic remakes and some of the year’s most original titles, we promise that the music from this season’s crop of projects will bring you closer to these stories than ever before.

Tonight, you’ll hear from an assortment of composer and songwriters kicking off with Bear McCreary heading to Middle-earth’s Second Age with the score from Prime Video’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. The Amazon-owned streamer is also bringing us the superhero sounds of The Boys with composers Christopher Lennertz and Matt Bowen.

Volker Bertelmann, who won an Oscar for his work on All Quiet on the Western Front, will discuss his latest small-screen project The Day of the Jackal, the Peacock series fronted by Eddie Redmayne and Lashana Lynch.

There’s also Siddhartha Khosla, founder of indie rock band Goldspot, who won the Emmy last year for his work on Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building. He’ll be hoping to replicate that with his work on a different Hulu show, the dystopian drama Paradise starring Sterling K. Brown.

Talking of dystopian, we also have music from Apple’s Severance, HBO|Max’s The Last of Us and Netflix’s Squid Game.

Theodore Shapiro, fresh from appearing at Deadline’s Contenders TV event last month, will discuss working with Ben Stiller with music from the Adam Scott-fronted Apple TV+ workplace series Severance.

Gustavo Santaolalla and David Fleming, the latter who appeared last year with Mr. & Mrs. Smith, will be bringing music from The Last of Us, while Jung Jaeil will be exposing us to the haunting sounds inside the island of Squid Game.

Apple is also bringing us some therapy in the form of Shrinking. Tom Howe, who has worked on projects as diverse as The Great British Bake Off and Ted Lasso, will be here to share sounds of the Jason Segel-fronted dramedy.

Mick Giacchino has worked his magical sounds into some major IP series from The Muppets Mayhem to Star Wars: Skeleton Crew. Tonight, he is sharing sounds from HBO|Max’s The Penguin.

Dimitri Smith and James Poyser will be performing the dark sounds of Peacock’s Sony Pictures Television-produced Philadelphia-set cop drama miniseries Long Bright River, which stars Amanda Seyfried.

Finally, Arcane is one of two video game adaptations that will be platformed tonight with Alex Seaver, composer and executive music producer, sharing the sounds of Netflix’s steampunk action series that is set in the world of Riot Games’ League of Legends.

Follow tonight’s action via social using #SoundAndScreen, and check back Thursday for Deadline’s full panel coverage. On Monday, we’ll launch the Sound & Screen Television streaming site featuring all the panel videos.

Here’s the schedule for tonight’s in-person-only event (all times PT, and order subject to change):
