PHOENIX – Trader Joe’s is finally coming to the southwest Valley.
The grocery store is one of three new tenants joining the lineup at the GSQ mixed-use project in Goodyear, developers announced Wednesday.
“This location is a great fit for Trader Joe’s, surrounded by growth, development and a strong sense of community,” Chris Warren, store captain at the future venue, said in a press release. “We’re excited to bring our unique products and hire more local, friendly crew to serve as Goodyear’s neighborhood grocery store.”
The announcement didn’t include a targeted opening date for the 13,500-square-foot store near 150th Drive and McDowell Road in Goodyear’s blossoming downtown area.
Trader Joe’s has created a devoted following as an alternative to the traditional U.S. shopping experience. However, Goodyear fans have to drive about 30 minutes north to one of the existing West Valley stores in Surprise and Glendale.
Trader Joe’s told the Phoenix Business Journal in February it was coming to Goodyear without revealing the location.
“This really is a dream come true for so many of our residents who’ve been asking for this unique grocer for many, many years,” Mayor Joe Pizzillo said in the release.
What tenants are joining Trader Joe’s at GSQ in Goodyear?
The other future GSQ tenants revealed Wednesday are Black Rock Coffee Bar and Firebirds Wood Fired Grill, both of which are expected to open in 2026.
GSQ was designed to serve as a retail and entertainment destination next to the new Goodyear Civic Square. Real estate company RED Development and Globe Corp. are developing the project.
The list of current tenants includes Harkins Theatres, BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse, Shake Shack, Copper & Sage and more.
Other businesses are in the works, including a High Tide Seafood Bar & Grill that is expected to open soon.
