EXCLUSIVE: Elisabeth Moss and the cast of The Handmaid’s Tale will receive the inaugural Ensemble Tribute at the second annual Gotham Television Awards, taking place at Cipriani Wall Street in NYC and livestreaming on YouTube on Monday, June 2.
The Ensemble Tribute is intended to honor talented TV casts whose artistry and chemistry have captivated audiences worldwide. Cast members set to be honored alongside Moss include Yvonne Strahovski, Bradley Whitford, Max Minghella, Ann Dowd, O-T Fagbenle, Samira Wiley, Madeline Brewer, Amanda Brugel, Sam Jaeger, Ever Carradine, and Josh Charles.

A timely adaptation of the novel by Margaret Atwood, The Handmaid’s Tale is the story of life in the dystopia of Gilead, a totalitarian society in what was formerly the United States. Offred (Moss), one of the few fertile women known as Handmaids in the oppressive Republic of Gilead, struggles to survive as a reproductive surrogate for a powerful Commander and his resentful wife. Produced by MGM Television, the show was Hulu‘s first to win the Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series and remains one of its most impactful series ever, with 76 nominations from the TV Academy and 15 wins over the course of its first five seasons, among other accolades.
Created by Bruce Miller, the series is wrapping up with the final episodes of its sixth and final season later this month. Warren Littlefield, Eric Tuchman, and Yahlin Chang were co-showrunners and exec produced the latest installment alongside Miller, Moss, Steve Stark, Sheila Hockin, John Weber, Frank Siracusa, Kim Todd, Daniel Wilson and Fran Sears. A spinoff series, titled The Testaments, which will see Dowd reprise her role as Aunt Lydia, is currently in production.
As previously announced, this year’s Gotham Awards will also see Creator Tributes bestowed on Squid Game‘s Hwang Dong-hyuk as well as Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino, the duo behind Amazon’s hit series The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and ballet-themed follow-up Étoile.
