PRICEVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — A Florida couple was pulled out of a vehicle and arrested on drug charges during a traffic stop in Priceville on Wednesday.
Priceville Police pulled a vehicle over along I-65 around 9:30 p.m.
Police identified the people inside of the vehicle as Jonathan Garrett Green, 38, of Pensacola, Florida and Britney Jenay McKinney, 33, of Pensacola, Florida.
According to authorities, a child was also in the backseat of the vehicle.
An officer then spoke to Green and asked for the necessary documentation to drive.
PPD said that Green would only roll his window down approximately an inch instead of rolling it all the way down.
After several minutes of arguing with the officer, Green eventually gave the officer his drivers license.
Shortly after, police told Green that an odor of marijuana was coming from the vehicle and asked the couple to step out so a search could be conducted due to probable cause.
After the couple refused to get out of the vehicle, a second backup officer arrived on the scene.
After being told by both officers multiple times that the couple was under arrest and to exit the vehicle, the driver’s side window was forcibly removed and Green was pulled from the vehicle.
After a brief struggle, Green was handcuffed and placed into a patrol car. McKinney was then pulled from the vehicle during a brief struggle before being handcuffed and placed into a separate patrol car.
Upon further investigation, a trafficking amount of THC concentrate oil, numerous packaged quantities of marijuana, various drug paraphernalia and two firearms were found inside the vehicle.
Green and McKinney were both arrested and transported to the Morgan County Jail.
Both were charged with trafficking dangerous drugs, unlawful possession of marijuana 1st, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, obstructing governmental operations and resisting arrest.
According to police, both were also charged with chemical endangerment of a child because of a child being in the backseat.
A Morgan County Circuit Judge set Green and McKinney’s bonds at $203,000 each.
The Judge also executed an emergency order for the child to be turned over to Morgan County DHR who also responded to the scene.
