Charli XCX is diving deep into the world of film with a new project on the horizon. The global artist is getting ready to star in and produce Audition director Takashi Miike‘s new movie.

Miike is known for his prolific and gory horror films. Though much of the details for the new project remains under wraps, Miike’s reputation for extreme violence in his cult classics, including the 1999 fan favorite Audition and 2001’s Ichi the Killer, are expected to return to the new project. Ross Evans is expected to pen the script. Charli, who is a multi-Grammy award winning artist, has turned her attention to acting and producing lately. Charli is slated to star in The Moment for director Aidan Zamiri next and be featured in Julia Jackman’s period fantasy 100 Nights of Hero alongside Nicholas Galitzine and Emma Corrin. Charli continues to keep busy, starring in Pete Ohs and Jeremy O. Harris’ Erupcja, Daniel Goldhaber’s horror remake Faces of Death, I Want Your Sex alongside Olivia Wilde and Cooper Hoffman. Romain Gavras’ adventure comedy Sacrifice, thriller The Gallerist starring Natalie Portman and Jenna Ortega and more.

Over the course of Miike’s career, he has directed more than 100 films and is best known for his 1999 yakuza action film Dead or Alive, as well as 2001’s erotic black comedy Visitor Q. His latest film Sham is set to premiere at Tribeca Film Festival. So far, no further plot details are revealed of the new project with Charli.
