PHOENIX — Mesa Gateway Airport saw its highest number of passengers in March, according to a Tuesday announcement.
Last month, a record-breaking 261,536 passengers took to the skies through the airport near Power Road and the Loop 202 Santan Freeway.
That’s an increase of 24% compared to March 2024.
Julia Wheatley, the chair of the Mesa Gateway Airport Authority Board of Directors, said flight activity rose by 36% overall.
“The phenomenal growth of Gateway Airport continues to deliver tremendous economic benefits to the greater Phoenix region,” Wheatley said in a Tuesday announcement. “We’re thrilled to welcome even more visitors to the Valley of the Sun in 2025.”
Mesa Gateway Airport has seen rapid expansion over past year
The numbers reflect rapid growth the airport has seen over the past year. In fact, eight of the past 10 months set year-over-year records.
The growth comes after airport officials opened a 30,000-square-foot concourse with five gates a year ago.
J. Brian O’Neil, the CEO of the Mesa Gateway Airport Authority, said officials have worked hard to help the airport grow.
“The airport has worked hard with its airline partners, service providers, and airport tenants to ensure that Gateway Airport continues to provide the ‘just plane easy’ experience travelers have come to expect,” O’Neill said.
