Florida led the series 2-0 heading into Game 3, but the Lightning managed a big road victory to avoid falling behind 3-0. Tampa Bay won Saturday’s game 5-1.
The Panthers scored just over two minutes into the game with a Matthew Tkachuk goal, which made it look like Florida would cruise to the 3-0 series lead, but the Lightning managed to draw the game even late in the first period with a Brayden Point goal.
From there, the team just kept scoring. Nick Paul scored in the second period, then the Lightning scored three times in the final period. Jake Guentzel, Luke Glendening, and Anthony Cirelli scored in that final frame.
In the regular season, the Lightning finished second in the NHL‘s Atlantic Division, going 47-27-8, which gave the team 102 points. The Panthers weren’t far behind, though, as the team was 47-31-4, which equaled 98 points.
These two teams split their season series, going 2-2 against each other.
