WHITE COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — Officials have identified the three people who died following a plane crash in White County Saturday.
According to the Federal Aviation Administration, which is helping the National Transportation Safety Board investigate the incident, a Mooney M20TN with three people on board crashed around noon on Saturday, April 26.
Dean Selby, the Upper Cumberland Regional Airport director, confirmed to News 2 that all three occupants died as a result of the single-engine plane crash, which happened about a mile south of the airport.
The White County Firefighters Association posted about the incident on Facebook shortly after 12:15 p.m. on Saturday, saying emergency crews from across the county were on the ground in the Almyra Road area due to the crash.
The North End Volunteer Fire Department announced just before 1:30 p.m. that it was one of the agencies helping at the scene. Community members were encouraged to avoid the area of Almyra Road and Howell Cemetery Road until further notice.
On Sunday, April 27, Selby told News 2 the individuals who died had been identified as pilot Jonathan Braun, along with two passengers from Alabama, Dylan Clay Davis and his wife, Kelsie Lynn Davis.
No additional details have been released about the plane crash, including the cause of it.
