Known for her wardrobe of elevated basics, Meghan Markle isn’t usually one to follow the trend cycle. So it was a bit of a surprise earlier this week when the Duchess of Sussex showed up to the Time 100 event in the trendiest piece possible: a pair of wide-leg pants so wonderfully exaggerated that they dragged on the floor. They’re part of a Ralph Lauren linen tailored suit that, when styled with a crisp white shirt, creates the perfect work outfit for spring-summer 2025.
Linen is always in style during the warmer months, of course, but XXL wide-leg pants are newly popular this year. Markle shows how to embrace the trend while still keeping things professional by wearing it in the form of a tailored suit.

FYI, the shirt and belt are also Ralph Lauren. As for the tan linen, the choice to stay in neutral colors is all elegance. As for the jacket, it’s slightly oversized—which helps balance the large pants—while still being within the realm of normal. And though the pants are so wide and voluminous they almost look like a maxiskirt, the darts and solid belt-line keeps everything in check.
All style, all class, and very “more is more.” Thanks for the inspo, Meghan Markle. We’ll be adding this one to the spring mood board.
