MORGAN COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) — The Morgan County Drug Enforcement Unit carried out a search warrant that led to two people being arrested.
On Wednesday, Agents executed a search warrant in the 2200 block of Harrison St SE in Decatur. MCSO said that the search warrant was obtained as part of an ongoing narcotics investigation involving people living inside the home.
Upon arrival, Agents noticed someone climbing out of the back window of the home. After a short foot chase, Laron Cornelius Edwards, 27, of Decatur, was taken into custody.
During the chase, Agents saw Edwards throw a bag containing approximately 19 grams of a substance that field tested positive as fentanyl.
As Edwards was being taken into custody, additional Agents went into the home. While entering the home, agents came into contact with Calee Rosel Consetta Downey, 39, of Decatur.
According to authorities, Downey had active felony warrants for Permitting or Facilitating Escape along with a parole violation.
While searching the home, Agents located a quantity of synthetic cannabinoids, a firearm, and drug paraphernalia items.
Laron Cornelius Edwards was arrested and charged with the following:
- Trafficking in Illegal Drugs – Fentanyl
- Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
- Tampering with Physical Evidence
- Fleeing/Attempting to Elude
MCSO added that Edwards also had multiple felony and misdemeanor warrants in Morgan County.
Calee Rosel Consetta Downey was also arrested for her two outstanding warrants. Both were transported to the Morgan County Jail and are being held without bond.
