Famous Amos is marking its 50th anniversary with a celebration in the heart of Hollywood, paying tribute to its founder’s iconic legacy of cookies, community, and culture.
The cookie brand will host a block party on Saturday, May 3, from noon to 5 p.m. in the outdoor space near the El Capitan Theatre at 6800 Hollywood Blvd.
The free event is open to the public and promises an afternoon of music, dancing, art, and, of course, cookies.
The celebration honors Wally Amos, the company’s founder, who was known for his legendary block parties during the 1970s and 1980s. Organizers say the event aims to capture that same spirit, blending retro charm with modern energy.
The family-friendly festival will feature a variety of visual and interactive elements, including:
- A live mural painting by renowned Los Angeles artist OG Slick
- A showcase of classic lowriders, reflecting 1970s style with a contemporary twist
- Live DJ sets and musical performances
- Appearances by professional break dancers and double-dutch jumpers
- A pop-up roller skating rink
- Vintage cookie trucks offering free cookie samples
- Limited-edition merchandise celebrating the brand’s golden milestone
The company got its start at a bakery on Sunset Boulevard back in 1975.
