On Wednesday, Meghan Markle took to the stage at the annual Time100 Summit, where she spoke with Time CEO Jessica Sibley about her busy year so far, which has included the initial release of her Netflix show With Love, Meghan, the launch of her lifestyle business As Ever, and the premiere of her podcast, Confessions of a Female Founder. While discussing With Love, Meghan’s upcoming second season, already filmed, the duchess revealed that chef and humanitarian José Andrés will make an appearance on one of the episodes.
Meghan jokingly apologized to Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos, another guest at the annual event, for sharing the secret. “We haven’t revealed [much] about season two,” she said. “Ted will come here later, so I can apologize in advance for saying José Andrés is going to be on the season.”
Meghan and her husband Prince Harry have developed a close friendship with Andrés over the years, and the couple’s Archewell Foundation has donated to his World Central Kitchen organization to support projects including COVID-19 relief efforts and Los Angeles fire recovery.
Meghan and Harry were both honored in Time’s 2021 list of 100 influential people, but Meghan spoke solo during this year’s event. In her conversation with Sibley, Meghan discussed the process that went into launching As Ever, and her excitement when its initial eight products sold out after only 45 minutes. She also mentioned she was happy the brand’s flower petal “sprinkles,” which were featured on multiple episodes of With Love, Meghan, had become such a phenomenon, adding that she actually used them at home on parfaits, salads, and even scrambled eggs.
“I would be just like a little fairy, tossing them around all of the time,” Meghan said. “I think it speaks to the tiny moments of joy that are so effortless and just create a little bit of magic.” She likes the “level of charm” they bring, but said they are just one part of her larger philosophy. “Take flower sprinkles as an analogy and just think about all the small moments in your life that could just have a little splash of magic.”
Riffing on the title of her podcast, Confessions of a Female Founder, Sibley asked the duchess if she had anything she wanted to confess during their conversation. Meghan answered the question with a look into how she is processing her recent busy months.
“I think a confession for you, today, that I can very comfortably say is I’m the happiest I’ve ever been,” the duchess said. “To have a partner and husband who’s just so supportive and to have healthy kids that are so joyful. And the freeness of their life and the safety of their life that we create for them. For all the things that have happened in my life, I never would’ve imagined getting here at this point. I feel just so happy and grateful.”
